Refill Sheffield
When you come out of Sheffield station, the first thing you see is the magnificent Cutting Edge Sculpture, combining water and steel, and you’re standing on what was once the meeting point of the Sheaf River and Porter Brook. Water is the key to the location of our city, powering early industrialisation.
Easy access to drinking water
What Refill Sheffield wants to do is ensure that drinking water, to rehydrate residents and visitors alike, is as obviously available across the city. The focus is particularly on encouraging small independent businesses, such a crucial part of our economy and life, and our community centres and facilities, to sign up as Refill Stations.
If you’re looking to start a Refill Scheme, we’ve got a guide to help you get started.
Water is the best drink
We also want to support efforts to encourage the consumption of healthy, extraordinarily low-cost water, in contrast to unhealthy, much-promoted and expensive alternative drinks. Dental health is a particular problem in children in Sheffield, as is, as everywhere, obesity. We want to make drinking water the natural option, bottled drinks the rare exception.
And we know that many household budgets are stretched to breaking point and beyond – Refill stations are one way to reduce the cost of being out and about, actively enjoying our wonderful city. Please contact us for more information.
Getting involved is easy!
If you’ve got a great idea about getting involved in your local scheme, or you want to set up your own Refill Scheme, we’d love to have you on board.
