Refill Manchester
Manchester is an official Refill Destination, run by Manchester City Council. Manchester became a Refill Destination in 2023, as part of the local authorities’ wider Single-Use Plastic Action Plan.
Zero carbon team
Our Zero Carbon Team at Manchester City Council are leading on a project to increase the number of refill points within our neighbourhoods. Currently we are:
- Reviewing where we can make our own buildings accessible for water refills.
- Working with businesses in local areas to increase Refill sign-ups.
- Scoping where other projects could support the increase in refill and reuse to drive down the number of disposables used.
If you’re looking to start a Refill Scheme, we’ve got a guide to help you get started.
Climate Change Action Plan
As part of our wider Climate Change Action plan, Manchester City Council pledged to eradicate the use of avoidable single use plastics across the council estate by the end of 2024. In addition, we are committed to influencing across the city on this. Promoting Refill in Manchester is one just way that we are working towards this goal.
Getting involved is easy!
