Refill Newport and Shropshire
Newport is a small market town on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border. It has a fantastic local community with great schools and one of the Countries top Agricultural universities Harper Adams on our doorstep.
The community has many local groups for all interests ranging from Civic and History societies, others for photography and the arts through to Wildlife trusts and numerous youth groups. We’re also fortunate to have many businesses supporting health and wellbeing as well as a full range of services.
Newport is seeking plastic free community status with Surfers Against Sewage and this has really highlighted the amount of plastic waste we have – including the number of water bottles! We’ve signed up to create the Refill Scheme to help residents find places to refill instead of adding to the plastic pollution and so out of town visitors can also know what venues will allow them to refill.
If you’re looking to start a Refill Scheme, we’ve got a guide to help you get started.
Plastic Free Scheme
The Refill Newport and Shropshire scheme is being promoted as part of Sustainable Newport’s pledge to helping keep Newport Green and Plastic Free!
The Plastic Free scheme has the full support of our town council and Chamber of commerce as well as several local businesses who are going to sign up to the scheme. We’re actively working to recruit more Business’s, community groups and Schools to act as champions and ambassadors of the scheme.
Getting involved is easy!
We’d love more local people to get involved and help spread the message!
If you’re interested in volunteering to support signing up business’s or manning our stand at local events please get in touch with Simone Whitfield on [email protected]
If you’ve got a great idea about getting involved in your local scheme, or you want to set up your own Refill Scheme, we’d love to have you on board.
